If you are planning a trip from Hong Kong to Bhutan, the first thing to know is that there is no scheduled Hong Kong–Paro flight at the moment. Drukair's November 2026 schedule has no Hong Kong service. Bhutan Airlines began charter flights between Paro and Hong Kong in January 2025, and Drukair has run occasional Hong Kong charters around the holidays, but these are not regular weekly flights. Most travellers connect through Bangkok, or through Singapore.
Option 1: Hong Kong → Bangkok → Paro (most flexible)
Fly from Hong Kong to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi with any of the airlines that serve the route, then take Drukair or Bhutan Airlines to Paro. Bangkok has the most flights to Bhutan outside South Asia, with non-stop flights taking about 3 hours 15 minutes. Many leave Bangkok between 5:00 and 7:30 am, so plan an evening flight from Hong Kong and a night near the airport. See flights from Bangkok for the full schedule.
Option 2: Hong Kong → Singapore → Paro
Fly to Singapore, then take Drukair's Singapore–Paro flight, which stops in Guwahati and takes about 6 hours 15 minutes. In the November 2026 schedule it leaves Singapore at 12:30 on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, arriving in Paro at 16:45, so a morning flight from Hong Kong can connect the same day if you leave enough time. Hong Kong to Bhutan Charter Flights
Charter flights from Hong Kong, when they run, have tended to be scheduled around holiday periods and are often sold as part of a package. If you see a direct Hong Kong to Bhutan flight advertised, check whether it is a charter, whether you can buy a seat only, and whether your tour dates match. We can plan a tour around a charter if you have a booking.
How to Book
Book directly with the airline: Drukair and Bhutan Airlines both sell tickets online, with online check-in and booking management. For the Hong Kong–Bangkok or Hong Kong–Singapore leg, book with the airline of your choice.
We don't book flights for our clients. Choose your flights first (or hold a booking), send us the dates, and we plan the tour around your arrival and departure in Paro. Our guide meets you at the airport.
Paro airport only operates in daylight and in good visibility (Department of Air Transport), so weather can delay flights, especially in the monsoon. Leave a buffer between your Bhutan flight and any long-haul connection, ideally a night.
Your Hong Kong–Bangkok and Bangkok–Paro flights will normally be on separate tickets. If the first flight is late, the second airline does not have to rebook you, so leave plenty of time or stay overnight.
Sort Out Your Visa and SDF Before You Fly
You cannot fly to Paro without a Bhutan visa approval. Everyone except Indian, Bangladeshi and Maldivian nationals needs one. The visa costs US$40 and is issued online once your trip and the Sustainable Development Fee (US$100 per person per night, set until 31 August 2027) are paid (Department of Tourism). If you travel with us, we apply for the visa and pay the SDF for you; you show the approval letter at check-in and receive the visa stamp on arrival in Paro.
International visitors must also have a licensed guide for the whole stay, so book your tour before your flights are final. See our Bhutan visa guide and Bhutan tours and holidays.
