108
Morning in the foothills. The ridge ahead is where the 108 will stand.
The river runs along the foot of the ridge. Mist lifts off the water as the sun comes up.
All 108 rise at once
They stand in single file along the ridge above the Mau Chhu. Each one is a Jangchub chorten.
Each chorten is 15 m tall and 108 m from the next. From the first to the last is about 11.6 km.
A light shower passes over the ridge. In Bhutan a rainbow is taken as an auspicious sign.

Pilgrims walk around a chorten clockwise, keeping it on their right. Keep scrolling to walk around it.
Read the chorten from the ground up
On high ground, people throw small paper prayers called lungta, wind horses, into the wind and call out “Lha gyalo”, victory to the gods.

A butter lamp is lit at every chorten along the ridge.
