Raven Concert Thimphu: Drone Show on 8 November

By Best of Bhutan Research Desk · October 28, 2026 · 8 min read

Update, 5 November 2026: The Raven Concert is still scheduled for Sunday 8 November, and tickets are still on sale. The official ticket page lists no postponement and still includes the drone show by Nova Sky Stories. One correction: this will not be Bhutan's first drone show. Organisers and early press coverage billed it that way, but a drone display closed the Project 108 stupa ceremony in Gelephu on the evening of 1 November, a week earlier. Details below.

The Raven Concert will bring a large drone light show to Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu on Sunday, 8 November 2026. The concert is the public closing event of the inaugural Asia Visionary Summit (AVS), an invitation-only gathering held at Dungkar Dzong in Paro. Organisers expect more than 10,000 people at the stadium, BBS reported on 28 October, and the drone display is being produced with the company Nova Sky Stories.

Unlike the summit itself, the concert is open to the public. General admission tickets are on sale through the official DashTickets page at Nu 315 for Bhutanese and USD 3.15 for international visitors, including fees.

In short: if your Bhutan trip includes Thimphu on the evening of 8 November, this is a cheap ticket to a one-off event. The start time and full running order had not been published as of 28 October.

What Is the Raven Concert?

The concert takes its name from the raven, Bhutan's national bird, which is the emblem on the Raven Crown worn by the Kings of Bhutan. Organisers bill it as "A Closing Ceremony for the Soul", according to The Bhutanese.

The programme mixes classical piano, contemporary music and Bhutanese performers. Reported line-up:

Daily Bhutan Times reported the same line-up and ticket prices on 27 October.

The Drone Light Show

The drone display is the part of the evening getting most attention. BBS reported that up to 1,500 drones will light up the sky above the stadium, developed with Nova Sky Stories, an international company that produces drone light shows. The drones are expected to form moving images and patterns timed to the music.

Two points to keep in mind:

The Asia Visionary Summit Behind It

The concert closes the first Asia Visionary Summit, which runs 6–8 November 2026. According to the official AVS site, the first two days are held at Dungkar Dzong in Paro and the third day moves to Changlimithang for the concert.

Dungkar Dzong, on the hills of Pangbisa in Paro, is a new dzong commissioned by His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. It houses the Druk Gyalpo's Institute and has hosted the Bhutan Innovation Forum.

Key points about the summit:

Note a small difference between sources: BBS describes the summit as a two-day event at Dungkar Dzong, while the AVS site lists three days (6–8 November) with the concert as the third. Both agree the Paro sessions run for two days.

What It Means for Travellers

Can tourists attend the Raven Concert?

Yes. DashTickets lists an International admission category at USD 3.15. The concert is not part of the invitation-only summit. Buy only through the official ticketing page; the ticket terms say resold or duplicated tickets can be refused at the gate.

The usual Bhutan travel rules still apply. A concert ticket does not replace your visa or the Sustainable Development Fee. International visitors (other than Indian, Bangladeshi and Maldivian nationals) need a visa arranged in advance and pay the SDF for each night in the country. See our Bhutan visa guide for the steps.
