Road routes into eastern Bhutan

Pick a route to fly along it. Red pins are the six districts writing tourism action plans.
The 3D map could not load in this browser. The main route east is the Lateral Road from Paro and Thimphu through Trongsa, Bumthang and Mongar to Trashigang. Samdrup Jongkhar, on the Assam border, is the southern gateway.

Route lines are approximate and not for navigation. Thimphu–Bumthang follows the Tour of the Dragon race route; Bumthang–Trashigang, Samdrup Jongkhar, Trashiyangtse and Gelephu roads are simplified from Natural Earth (public domain). Paro–Thimphu and Mongar–Lhuentse are drawn as indicative lines. Ask your tour operator for current road conditions and drive times.
